Politicians decide the wars, soldiers fight the wars
Hanoi Jane – Jane Fonda – An American princess who visited North Vietnam in 1972. Infamous for her photograph while sitting on a North Vietnam gun platform. A betrayal of American POWs – she later expressed regret for her behavior. The Vietnam Veterans have not and will not ‘buy her story’. She will remain a Traitor until the last serving Vietnam Veteran passes away and the Liberals re-write American history.
LBJ (Lyndon Baines Johnson) – 36th President of the USA. He used the questionable August 1964 Gulf of Tonkin incident to escalate the war in Vietnam. Advised by his senior military commanders in 1965 that the war was ‘unwinnable’, he continued to provide men and materiel until he left office in January 1969. Responsible for over 58,000 US personnel deaths and untold countless severely maimed and wounded.
Robert McNamara – from car maker to coffin maker. Former Ford Motor Company President, he became Defense Secretary under Lyndon Johnson. His mistaken belief was that increasing enemy ‘body count’ would eventually win the Vietnam War. Enemy body count numbers were greatly exaggerated by field commanders to appease the senior leaders giving the illusion of winning.
Robert Garwood– an American Prisoner of War who ‘crossed over’ to the Viet Cong during his incarceration in the jungle camps of the South. He wore VC cadre uniforms and attempted to influence his fellow American POWs with anti-American propaganda. Court-martialed and found guilty in 1979 and given a Dishonorable Discharge, forfeited all pay and allowances, and Veteran’s Benefits.
Walter Cronkite – Uncle Walter – CBS television news correspondent who visited Vietnam and reported on the 1968 TET Offensive. General Creighton Abrams told Cronkite that Vietnam was an unwinnable war. Abrams was proven right. Uncle Walter continued reporting nightly on the CBS Evening news to a devastated American public – but, hey he was competing with Huntley-Brinkley on NBC.
Jimmy Carter – 39th President. Second day in office (January 22, 1977) he issued proclamation 4483 – exonerating ALL Vietnam war draft evaders. Thanks asshole.
John Kerry – a real life wanna’ be warrior who served only 90 days ‘in-country’ as a Riverine gunboat officer. Received three Purple Hearts for self-inflicted wounds – splinters. Was awarded the Silver Star for shooting up the riverbank with a .50 cal. machine gun. Later, as a Vietnam Vet Against the War, testified before Congress after tossing his ‘medals’ over the White House fence. Later elected to the United States Senate.
